No, you do not need a GP appointments to book a physiotherapy appointment. You can book directly (known as self-referral) using our booking portal book here. We also offer free phone consultations if you would like to discuss your needs before booking an appointment. If you are claiming your treatment through private medical insurance, your insurer may require a GP or consultant referral. Please always check your insurance policy first, as you will be required to pay any shortfall to Heritage Physiotherapy & Co.
Initial assessments are around 50–60 minutes to allow for a full history, physical examination, diagnosis, and initial treatment plan. Follow-up sessions are slightly shorter, around 40–45 minutes.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows your physiotherapist to access and move the affected body part. For leg/hip issues, bring shorts. For neck/shoulder issues, a vest is helpful.
Bring a list of any current medications, relevant medical reports (X-rays, MRI scans, etc.) a list of any questions you may have and if using insurance, your policy details and authorisation code.
Yes, Heritage Physiotherapy & Co conduct home visits for adults and children. We can also arrange virtual appointments on request.
The session consists of three parts: 1. Subjective Assessment (asking about your pain, medical history, and goals); 2. Physical Assessment (checking movement, strength, and posture); and 3. Diagnosis and Treatment (explaining the problem, initial hands-on treatment, and a home exercise plan).
This is highly individual. The number depends on the severity and chronicity (how long you’ve had it) of the condition, as well as your personal goals. Your physiotherapist will discuss a projected treatment plan after your initial assessment. There is no obligation to have repeat sessions, and we pride ourselves at Heritage Physiotherapy & Co on only recommending conscientious and effective treatment plans.
Your physiotherapist will work within your pain tolerance to address your symptoms. Physiotherapy treatments are designed to be effective and enjoyable. We offer manual therapy, soft tissue massage, acupuncture and exercise therapy.
Our physiotherapists treat a vast range of issues, most commonly: Spinal pain (back/neck), Joint pain (osteoarthritis), Sports injuries (sprains/strains), Post-operative rehabilitation (hip replacements, total knee replacements) and Nerve pain (sciatica, carpal tunnel).
